Melly's Two Four

It wasn't anything extravagant. Picked out a few balloons, the white ones had "princess" glittered over it, with plain metallic blue. Balloons are always a happy prop. Dawn made a very popart card and we bought some food over to Melly's place. Since her place was only a stone's throw away from Wimbly Lu, we made plans to head there for a prettier atmosphere and to get her birthday cake.

To our utter disappointment, we didn't manage to get a table, we had no choice but to takeaway.

Attempted to light the sparkly candles at the nearby playground, but the wind was too strong. #failedmiserably

Back to her place for cake cutting.

Had really funny moments where we couldn't stop laughing. The conversation went something like this.. Melly was talking about some doctor stuff. Suddenly, she said, "I think you all should go."
Mich and I started getting up as it was getting really late and we had to catch the bus home. Dawn was getting another bite from the cake. Melly's face had a blank expression.

So Mich and I thought that Melly was asking us to go home, but actually she was telling us that we should go for check-ups too. It doesn't seem so funny now that I'm typing it, but we had laughing fits at that moment and it went on for about a minute.

Anyway, Happy Belated Birthday Mel-is-satay! Cheers to being friends for a decade and always keep that smile on your face. Love you long time.

Thai Cuisine

Satisfied my cravings with the boy after a very fulfilling day on Friday. Introduced my favourite Mookata joint to the boy, in case you didn't know, there are many Mookatas around (go google), but this is my favourite b'cuz of it's tomyam base. Huge fan here. I really like how they marinade their meat. Craving for some as I'm typing this.. Even though it wasn't a very romantic Valentine's dinner, charcoal-light instead of candlelight and smelling like BBQ after, I enjoyed it very much.

I can never get sick of Thai food. We headed to Siam Society for more Thai food just yesterday.

Tomyam with glass noodles for $10. This was pretty average to me.

This plate of pork knuckle was huge. Apparently, this is one of their best voted dishes. It costs a whopping $35 though. It was pretty good in my opinion. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Grilled sotong for $16. I've tried better ones.

If it wasn't for the protest going on right now, I would fly to BKK for some thai food lovin'.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

We had a long, tiring debate on whether we should head to Pisa for a day trip. Needless to say, we went ahead in the end. We are the sorta couple who hates looking back and regretting not doing this or saying that. It can be quite irritating at times, especially when we eventually do regret on something, there's always this empty, awkward feeling in your heart that you know can not be filled easily again. If you get what I mean...

Pisa is quite a small city in Tuscany.

We headed there just to take a picture with the Leaning Tower of Pisa. When you arrive at that attraction, what you will see is a row of people doing the same action, which is really quite a funny sight. Everyone was trying to pose with the tower, a pose which makes them look like they are holding onto the tower. And yeah you are right, us being typical Singaporeans, we joined the crowd too.

Sky was gloomy when we bought our tickets to climb up the tower and it was pouring heavily when we reached the peak.

In the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

This is a fisheye window.

The climb up was weird as the building was slanted.

Keith Haring mural.

Before I forget, I had a very bad encounter at Pisa. There were a lot of weird old men, what I would call "tikopeh", looking at me the whole time. I even heard one doing the whistle thing. I was really creeped out and scared since it was only the both of us. My dressing didn't attract any attention when I wore the exact the same thing in Rome, so it really made me wonder why. Anyway, it was really creepy and gross.

If you are a cheese lover, Pisa is famous for their cheese fondue.

Authentic Italian food in Italy.

The tiramisu is more diluted as compared to the normal ones in cups.

Till the next Europe adventure.

& Here's wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!
May you find your happily ever after.

Wanderlust

To be honest, I am much more independent after I have travelled to many countries. I have seen what the cultures are like in different countries and I have understood them better. In fact, I have even learnt to appreciate how our MRT system is so much better, and cleaner, than most countries. I've seen how a simple greeting or even a smile to a stranger can make a person's day better.

Every country, there's something unique about it, it leaves an impression, something that defines only itself. Every time I step into a new country/city, I will learn something new, it's like gaining new knowledge as I travel and it amazes me how much I am still lacking of. I get to see different sorts of people, get stuck with the language barrier and how their buildings, roads, transports are so different as compared to Singapore.

Girlfriends

"Always surround yourself with beautiful people."

Either I am really fortunate or I am really fortunate. My friends are gorgeous, inside out. I'm really blessed to have pretty girlfriends.

Left to right: Mich, Myself, Dawn, Mel.

I have known these girls since Secondary One, we joined the same CCA, Military Band, but we've only gotten closer in our upper Secondary School years. We have been to OBS together, joined the SYF together, had stayovers at each others houses, had different birthday surprises where we had to crack our brains for new ideas every single time for an entire year together with the whole band clan, marched together, gossiped together, complained together, got suspended together (with Mich), graduated together, had many quarrels, break ups and patching up and even partied together when we just got legal.

Somewhere along the way, some complicated issues came up, and gradually I drifted from them. I couldn't blame anyone but myself actually. I know that even though things have changed, they still hold a very special place in my heart. They really are beautiful people, with big hearts. I'm so glad to have met them. Being the quiet one, they complement me really well, Secondary School wouldn't have been such fun without them.

All the "X"s and the "O"s for you girls.

Counting Stars

Birthday parties are always such a blast with the boys. I really like it when everyone takes the effort to dress up and meet up as a whole. Usually, we would meet only for random dins or just gym sessions so we look sloppy and all.

So this time we headed to the Standing Sushi Bar at Queen Street for a really early dins. I would still choose Genki Sushi over Standing Sushi Bar anytime. Nothing stood out as really good. I have this strong hate for coriander and celery, even their smell makes me wanna puke and to my horror, there was coriander in their chawanmushi. Who puts coriander in chawanmushi! It's just wrong.

After the meal that didn't really fill our tummies, we headed to have more food at Mos Burger haha. #gluttons It was our first time arriving at Sauce really early so it was almost empty, a rare sight indeed. Part one of the night started. Flappybird, Funrun, Five Ten, Asahi.

Since we started early, we got bored and decided to head for some Karaoke. What's more someone has been training hard for a few songs over the week. #MM Part duo at 7th Heaven.

Birthday boy wants in too.

Had such fun! Love you guyz. Getting really old, woke up today feeling like a sloth.
