New Zealand: Queenstown, Milford Sound, Lindis Pass, Lake Wardell, Lake Pukaki (Day 9 to 11)

Day 9

On route to Queenstown. Real fortunate to own a house with a view like this.

First stop: Queenstown hill

It was a pretty easy hike and it's free of charge, but do follow the right route.

Overlooking the city of Queenstown.

On the way down, we spotted some billy goats!

The folks and I doing our thang.

You can't tell from this picture, but we were at the peak and the winding roads were so mesmerising to look at. The wind was merciless, but we stood there for a good five minutes.

At the heart of Queenstown.

We tried the famous Fergburgers. We had the chicken and lamb with mint. I'm not a fan, but I've always been picky with food and a true blue asian foodie. The fries were good though!

More hokey pokey ice cream!

Always such a different sight in western countries.

Gondola ride, NZD$27 for a return trip.

The best luge ride experience ever! Had the time of our lives on the peak having the perfect birdseye view of Queenstown while racing each other down. We went for 2 different routes and regretted not going for more. Loved it.

Magnificent view of Queenstown.

The boy and his vehicle. He used to drive this in the army and is always proud whenever he sees one. I always like to tease him and call him a construction worker.

We didn't stay in the heart of Queenstown as it was quite pricey, so we stayed a 10 minutes drive away at Hotel Sherwood for SGD$175.35.

Day 10

The scenic drive to Milford Sound on a cold and frosty morning. It was a 4 hours drive from Queenstown.

Booked our tour with Go Orange! just because they provide a free meal of fish & chips per pax haha. The tour lasted for 2 hours.

The majestic Milford Sound.

If you don't already know, the fjord is a favorite tourist destination in New Zealand and owns a legendary appraisal by Rudyard Kipling, who called it the eighth Wonder of the World.

Our boat went into the waterfall behind us, we stood by the edge and it was exhilarating.

Mist all clearing up and we even spotted some wild seals chilling on the rocks.

A 2 hours drive to Te Anau from Milford Sound.

Alpacas greeted us when we arrived in Te Anau.
This one going, "Whatchu lookin' at."

Another bunch spotted. I love the monochrome one, too cute!

Awww.

I like big butts and I cannot lie.

Arrived at our accommodation, Lakeside Motel, Te Anau for NZ$225.

Then, we went for a stroll.

Check out this 7-seater bike, how apt.

Settled our dinner at Redcliff Restaurant & Bar.
Pork knuckles and our first time trying beetroot and it wasn't too bad.

Lamb chop, medium rare for the boy.

View right outside our balcony of Lakeside Motel, Te Anau. Such a stunner.

Day 11

Made our way down south. It was a long driving day, Te Anau to Mount Cook takes about 6 hours. We will pass by Lindis Pass on the way.

Pure serenity.

Our first sighting of beautiful lupins.

The dramatic Lindis Pass links the Mackenzie Basin with Central Otago.

I was so excited to snap this shot of the highly raved about Lindis Pass, I dropped my new iphone face down on the rocky roads. #smartypants Totally spoilt my mood for the day.

Reflecting on what I just did...  Just kiddin'.
Chanced upon this sapphire blue waters and I had to stop to take a picture. We were not supposed to enter, but who cares, it's too pretty.

Beautiful Lake Wardell. No filter to this picture, colours are true to real life. So amazing.

Here we go again.

Lake Pukaki, in its truest form. Famously known as the surrounding setting for ‘Lake-town’ in ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’. The glacial feed to the lake gives it a distinctive blue colour.

Basking in all its glory.

Next up, Mount Cook.
