We grabbed a great deal via Scoot, only $250 per pax, all taxes included, to Perth. It was sucha steal, we decided to just go ahead even tho the apartments/hotels were pretty costly. We departed at around 1pm on the 13th December 2013, so we arrived Perth at about 7pm. A day wasted, but we still managed to catch the sunset upon our arrival. We collected our car, rented from RedSpot, a Holden Malibu and made our way to our hotel. Our first night stay was at Mounts Bay Waters Apartment, which was near the city of Perth.
We drove past these huge tents on the way to our hotel and it got me pretty psyched. I have never seen or been to a circus before and these huge tents really look like those in the movies. Altho I am not exactly a fan of circuses, they remind me of how animals get whipped and ill-treated, but hey I have never actually seen a real-life one. I found out that it was the Cavalia. Tickets were already sold out for the days that we were in Perth, such a pity.
We checked into our hotel and decided to go for dins, we were all starving as Scoot doesn't serve food unless you pay for it. Fortunately, right outside our hotel, there is a free bus service called the Blue Cat, which brings us to the city, which is only 3 stops away. It was a Friday night, clubbers were out and about. We settled for KFC and headed back for a good night's rest as we were checking out early the next day.
Woke up bright and early, just so you know the sun rises at 4am b'cuz it is summer. Headed down south to Fremantle. We were greeted with such gorgeous blue skies everyday. I love it.
Fremantle Markets to fill our tummies.
Urms, yeap. It was only the second day but we were already having ramen for breakfast. #trueblueasians
What's a market without fruits.
Graffiti perfectly done.
Just look at that, the sky looks like a painting. #icouldgetusedtothis
& while everyone else was in winter wonderland, here we are basking in the sun down under.
The folks.
The highly raved about Kailis, for its famous fish and chips.
Fresh seafood as well.
To be honest, the fish and chips were mediocre. I've tasted better ones in UK. I don't eat oysters, but the folks and the boy said that they were fresh.
Drove around to check some beaches out.
Hey there.
On the road.
Miami bakehouse, famous for their pies.
I was utterly impressed. So was the boy. It tastes like pasty, but even better. Nothing goes wrong with garlic and prawns.
Headed down to Dolphin Quay.
Churros coated with cinnamon and sugar dipped in milk chocolate. Yum.
Delicious dilemmas indeed. Too many flavours to choose from. & they have honeycomb flavour too!
Second night's stay at Lakeside Holiday Apartments.
The boys played table tennis.
Pretty deserted place, took a drive to a supermarket and found this Alaskan king crab claws for only AUD$16. Such a steal!
Third day. Checked out and went to the Dolphin Discovery Centre. We paid AUD$10 per pax to enter, there was an interaction zone, but we didn't manage to see any dolphins.
Clear waters, no dolphins.
Next stop, Busselton Jetty. The longest jetty in Australia, 1.8km.
I would suggest that you take the train to and fro. Initially, we decided to walk to and fro, but by the time we got to the other end we were half dead. The sun was too hot and there were too many summer flies. It was a wrong choice to walk at noon too. However, we got to enjoy the scenery and take pretty pictures.
Crystal clear blue waters.
The train that we took back.
This place was meant for whale watching, but we were told that we missed the season which just went by a few days ago. Really disappointing.
That rock at the back is called Sugarloaf rock.
"I can be your koala bear."
Daddy wanted to try out a farmstay, so we booked Taunton Farm Holiday Park, which was near to Margaret River. It is an open concept cottage, beds, dining area and the kitchen are all in a room. We stayed here for two nights.
This is what our cottage looks like from the outside. There were caravans parked along the other side as well.
Jumping pillow for all ages. I love it.
When you have leftover bread, feed the ducks haha. They are very greedy.
I decided to try this bakery out, which was recommended by a friend. Margaret River Bakery, famous for their almond croissants. Lovely concept, nice ambience. Loved their plates and teapots too.
I had a salted caramel donut.
He was trying to lure the crabs out b'cuz I didn't believe that there was any.
Cape Leeuwin lighthouse in the distance.
Family.
This is where the Southern Ocean meets the Indian Ocean. So amazing.
This is the coldest and windiest place we have been to. It is way down south.
Lunch at a bakery, I'm not liking it. I am definitely not a bread person.
This is at Hamelin Bay. Manta rays are known to be seen at this beach.
But, as usual, we found none. Seriously had no luck with sea animals, no dolphins, no whales, no manta rays.
Mammoth Cave.
Then, we started exploring the factories. First stop was the Miller's Ice cream.
Triple scoop for the boy.
Such a beautiful backyard.
Free chocolate samples.
Nougats.
Forests everywhere when we were down south.
Back to the Taunton Farm Holiday Park for feeding time at 6pm daily.
Carrots for you?
Stay tuned for more.
