When we arrived, as usual, we got lost and made a huge detour around the factories when we could have just crossed a bridge. We checked into Ibis Budget Hotel Luzern City then explored most of the town. Conquered the "castle", walked around Old Town. Thereafter, I was treated to a really extravagant meal at Hotel & Restaurant Stern. The boy's treat! We made it a point to have their authentic cuisine in each city that we visited.
Had a really satisfying meal and headed back to the hotel for a good night's rest as we were heading to Mt Titlis for a day trip the next day (which I will blog in another entry).
Most shops are closed on one of the days (sorry I forgot which day) and we had no idea (didn't do our research on this). We were walking through a dead town, even finding a place to have a meal was tough.
The downside was that food was really expensive in Switzerland. On the third day there, we bought two Macdonalds meal for SGD$40+. Can you imagine?! We were totally amused.
Our really budget hotel which was really clean, it wasn't too bad. Even had an amazing view of Swiss Alps everywhere.
View from the bridge we were supposed to cross to get to the hotel. Yeap, right next to the train station, but we still got lost. #hopeless
Time to explore and time for touristy shots.
Map of Lucerne.
Can you feel the tranquility already just by looking at this.
Even their trams are so bright, happy and cute.
Not very fantastic food to fill our hungry tummies.
We were eating in this cafe made like a glass house by the lake.
We started climbing these towers, and I kid you not when I say they really got me out of breath. I think there were like four of five stories of these stairs.
& this is the view we got from all that climbing. Totally worth it I would say.
Going back down wasn't that easy as the steps were really small and steep, especially the wooden ones.
I really like this shot, it would be better if my hair wasn't that flat and if he got my left angle instead haha.
Climbing up another tower.
Check me out!
Every building is so unique on its own.
This is the statue of a famous lion who died in a battle.
Beautiful churches.
The famous Lucerne bridge.
My birthday treat held here.
Soup.
My fave. The starters.
The boy's.
Mine.
Birthday cakes.
Just check out the amount of birthday cakes the boy got for me haha.
Picture perfect.
A golden head duck.
Their market place.
Egg mayo bun for breakfast.
Strawberry tart for him.
Tried this Mexican taco thingy that was recommended on Tripadvisor and I had to admit it was pretty good stuff. My virgin experience for Mexican food.
On the last day, we grew really familiar with the place since it was really small and we have been walking around the area for a couple of days. We decided to go boat paddling for an hour in Lake Lurcerne.
Scenery was gorgeous, needless to say, swiss alps in a distance and all the architectural buildings.
I tried to feed my pinballs to the swan but it seemed totally uninterested haha.
Kinda regretted wearing jeans, the sun was scorching hot. Made me want to go dipping in the lake.
Ate ice cream. We ate a lot of ice cream and chocolates for the whole Europe trip, the boy especially. He has a super sweet tooth.
Random chix thigh that was really yummy.
We decided to rent a motor boat for an hour to travel further for a better view, since we didn't have much to do. What's more we could drive on our own, how cool was that.
Getting driven around by the boy.
Turned out we didn't manage to travel that far and we had to rush back to shore as we totally overestimated the time and dark clouds were looming. Enjoying the wind in my face while the boy drives haha.
I managed to get a free green balloon while window shopping earlier on haha and I was a happy girl. We made a wish and let our balloon fly into the distance when we were out in the middle of the lake. Can you spot my green balloon?
Life was really good.
