Could finally ditch the trenchcoat, jeans, pullovers and whatnot, throw on some shorts and tees. Winter will still always be my favourite season though.
According to our itinerary, Santorini comes after Athens, but I will be blogging about Santorini first.
The image that was playing in my mind for my first impression of Santorini was totally different from what was placed in front of me. We took a seven hour ferry ride from Athens and arrived at a huge dock, everywhere was covered in dark brown sand and there was a narrow road that twists and turns up a very steep slope. The hotel sent someone to pick us up from the dock, I guess we were too busy so I didn't manage to get a picture of the dock.
Just so you know, we decided to try out authentic Greek cuisine in Athens the night before. Everything turned out well until they gave each of us a complimentary shot of Greek alcohol. Since we were on holiday, no harm trying new stuffs and having fun together, I didn't think much of it and tried the shot. To our horror, I started getting gastric and started puking in the night. Worst shot ever.. And the seven hour ferry ride to Santorini made things worse. The puking and diarrhea continued for the rest of my Santorini trip. It really ruined my time there. Every time I walked past a Greek restaurant, nausea would creep in (I still feel that way whenever I think of Greek food). It was a really horrible experience and I was such a wet blanket the whole time.
Even though I had a pretty bad experience there, I gotta admit that Santorini is the most beautiful place out of our whole trip. It is the perfect place for a wedding photoshoot, no doubt about that. Damn, I should have brought my wedding gown for a photoshoot haha. It is a dream destination to most, I'm certain. Sometimes, I can still hardly believe that I have been there.
Here's our humble abode for the next three days.
I was suffering from seasickness and a woozy stomach when we arrived. The boy had to drag me out of the room to a great spot to catch the sunset at about 9pm. So worth it.
Right after the sunset, before turning dark.
This is what I call breakfast with a view, Santorini style.
We travelled around by bus and mainly walking. There were a lot of people who drive ATVs on the road too.
The Red Beach.
The island is actually a volcano that we were supposed to visit on the third day, but couldn't b'cuz of me. I am still feeling regretful and sorry about it sigh.
Behind that happy face is actually me feeling like crap.
Mind you, the stairs were really steep, it took us a long while to decide if we wanted to ride the donkey.
Two cones for the price of two scoops, so why not get two cones right?
We tried to walk to the next town, Oia, but gave up halfway and took the bus instead. Thankful that we did, it was such a long way there.
We settled down at a bar to chill and catch the sunset.
Such an alluring sight.
When night falls.
Here's our very own jacuzzi in our bathroom. We had dins while we soaked in it. I had cup noodles for most of my meals b'cuz I couldn't stand the smell of Greek food and I lost my appetite too.
Third day in Santorini. We took a cable car down and rode the donkey up. Yeeha!
My donkey kept leaning against the walls and I had no control over him so I kept scraping my knee.
Just check out the amount of poop on the ground.
Cute kitties spotted right beside our hotel. Mommy cat always comes to our table for breakfast in the morning.
I would return in a heartbeat, if given a chance again. I'm captivated by its beauty, truly am.
